Important:
The Accountant will play a vital role in maintaining the general ledger and Netsuite accounting system. This position will assist in preparing payroll, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports. Responsibilities also include analyzing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. This role requires problem-solving, collaboration, and attention to deadlines. Responsibilities
Maintain general ledger in the Netsuite accounting system; prepare balance sheet reconciliations including bank reconciliations; supervise Accounts Payable and Receivable processing. Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents; assist in preparing for financial audits, reviews, and tax returns. Organize and prepare payroll and other expense reports for AR billings; prepare bank deposits. Review P&Ls with property managers for accuracy; ensure month-end invoices are submitted before month-end. Summarize current financial status by preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports; work with accounting team as a cohesive unit. Submit reimbursement requests for sales tax paid for non-profit entities; recommend and post adjusting journal entries; maintain accounting controls and policies. Communicate effectively with stakeholders including staff and vendors; ensure timely and accurate transaction posting and month-end close. Other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisor. Assist Grants Manager in coordinating billings and expenses with Housing Department to ensure budget accuracy. Reconcile financial discrepancies by analyzing account information; coordinate with Property Management to complete housing reports. Provide input into department goals; develop and document accounting policies to strengthen internal controls. Prepare cash, asset, liability, and capital account entries; communicate work status with Manager/Director. Promoting Best Practice
Demonstrates awareness of diverse populations and contributes to the agency’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. Support housing first, harm reduction, and low barrier access to resources; apply Trauma-Informed Care as a guideline. Set and maintain good boundaries; proactively collaborate as part of a team. Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen. Education and Experience
1-2 years’ experience using Excel; experience with Netsuite accounting software preferred. Two to four years’ related experience preferred; experience working with diverse populations preferred. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred. Required Skills and Abilities
Excellent accounting skills; knowledge of accounting software and spreadsheets. Great attention to detail; strong verbal and written communication abilities. Ability to analyze financial data; self-direction and dependability; adaptability to improve processes. Ability to work with diverse populations; proactive team member; nonprofit/government experience considered a plus. Ability to operate within a Trauma-Informed Care framework.
