Accountants One has been engaged by a trusted non-profit to recruit a
Senior Accountant
to join their team. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role is designed for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and wants to take ownership of key accounting functions. Base pay range
$75,000.00/yr - $80,000.00/yr Responsibilities
Support and cross-train with Accounts Payable; review and approve invoices for proper coding, accuracy, and compliance Provide guidance and direction to AP staff as needed Prepare and post monthly general ledger entries, including accruals and allocations Record and reconcile monthly cash receipts Reconcile balance sheet accounts, research variances, and resolve reconciling items Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial statements (P&L and Balance Sheet) for multiple branches by the 15th of each month Review results with Controller and VP of Finance, highlighting risks, trends, and opportunities Assist with quarterly and year-end close processes, ensuring all deadlines are met Analyze financial data and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred 3+ years of accounting experience with a focus on month-end close and reconciliations Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statement preparation Proficiency with Excel and ERP/accounting systems Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy under pressure Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a professional, team-oriented approach Opportunity to work closely with leadership and contribute to strategic financial decisions Seniority level
