New York, NY About the Company
Our client is the largest premium workplace-as-a-service provider and home to the highest-rated workplaces in the industry. Everything we do comes down to creating great days for teams of all sizes and stages, including our own. We believe that what makes a great day at work is the people on your team and the problems you get to solve together. We’re looking for people who love thinking outside the box and thrive in a truly collaborative setting. As teammates, we encourage new ideas and toast every win. We’re excited about having a meaningful impact on people’s workplace experience. Great days also start when everyone can be their authentic self at work. Diversity of backgrounds, thoughts, and ideas is critical to our success in delivering great workplace experiences, both for our members and for each other. We are committed to creating an inclusive, respectful environment that embraces your individuality and quirkiness. You are valued for who YOU are. We celebrate our people as individuals who can accomplish great things when we work together as one team. The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic
VP, Controller
to join our leadership team. This is a critical, senior-level role that will directly influence our finance roadmap and operational efficiency as we continue to grow organically and integrate with our parent company. This is a hybrid role, based in New York City. Reporting to the Global Controller - with a dotted line to the CFO, you will lead a global team of 30, with six direct reports based in New York, London, and Singapore. You will be a key player in navigating a dynamic, high-growth environment while ensuring a seamless connection to the financial governance and reporting of a large, publicly traded company. You’ll be joining and leading a close-knit group of high-performing, fun-loving, karaoke-singing (participation not required!) finance and accounting professionals. We are lovingly known as ‘the moneybees’ and have a fantastic team culture and enviable bespoke sweatshirts. Our team mirrors the firm’s culture - we put people first, always assume positive intent with our colleagues, and go out of our way to embrace the company’s values (head, heart, hands) with our own ‘moneybee’ flair. One of the high points of our year is the team offsite, where we take a couple of days to connect with one another, have fun, and lean in on the strategic vision for the coming year. You never know what fun surprises our CFO has up his sleeve. For example, we stayed in a castle for our 2025 Finance team offsite! There will likely be putt-putt, pub trivia, lots of laughter, great food, and amazing memories. Key Responsibilities
As the VP, Controller, you will be the ultimate owner of the company’s Accounting function. Your responsibilities will include: Strategic Leadership:
Set the strategy for the accounting function, designing processes and systems that support and enable the company's growth and commercial initiatives. Growth Mindset:
Partner with our leadership team and cross-functional partners to drive scale and enable the Company’s innovation and commercial growth. Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor a global team of 30, including ultimate oversight of our accounts receivable, billing, accounts payable, treasury, reporting, and GL accounting teams. Financial Reporting & Compliance:
Own the process for meeting SEC reporting and close deadlines for our parent company. Ensure SOX compliance and the effectiveness of all internal controls. Oversee statutory and regulatory compliance, and support income tax and SALT teams. Finance Transformation:
Drive modernization and efficiency through finance transformation initiatives. Champion a continuous improvement mindset, seeking to scale and automate financial processes. Corporate Integration:
Support integration workstreams and drive efficient, scalable, and effective ways of working between our firm and the corporate ownership. Transaction Management:
Provide perspective, intake, and coordination on one-off strategic transactions, including M&A, legal matters, and geographic expansion. Systems Management:
Lead the financial systems roadmap, including the design and implementation of new systems and technologies. Navigate and Simplify Complexity:
Be a trusted finance voice to the FP&A and Executive Teams to understand, assess, communicate, and provide guidance on accounting implications and process design for complex accounting and reporting matters. Who You Are
You are a strategic, detail-oriented, and highly effective leader with a passion for building and scaling processes. You are an excellent project manager and a strong technical accountant who can navigate a complex corporate environment. You are known for being: A Trusted Cross-Functional Partner:
You build strong relationships and find elegant solutions that balance company growth with statutory rules and GAAP requirements. A Proven Leader:
You are a natural motivator who inspires your team to achieve and exceed their goals. You have led a team of more than 10 onshore employees. An Expert in Governance:
You are highly mindful of proper governance, risk mitigation policies, and internal controls. You prioritize business processes and systems that are both clearly understood by operators and protect the business’ resources. A Decisive Communicator:
