Base pay $130,000.00/yr - $200,000.00/yr
Assistant Controller – Private Credit (NY or Chicago)
An established middle-market private credit investment platform is seeking an
Assistant Controller
to join its growing finance team. The firm manages a suite of direct lending funds focused on providing financing solutions to private equity–backed companies. With a collaborative culture and institutional backing, the firm combines the agility of a boutique with the resources of a global asset manager.
This opportunity is for candidates who are located in New York City or Chicago.
Responsibilities
Lead the financial reporting process for the firm’s middle-market private credit funds
Manage monthly performance estimates, valuation, and quarterly reporting
Oversee fund accounting close packages, NAVs, expense accruals, and fee calculations
Coordinate annual audits, regulatory filings, and investor deliverables
Manage fund liquidity, leverage facilities, and cash forecasting
Review capital calls, distributions, and investment allocations
Supervise fund accounting associates and provide coaching and professional development
Partner with the fund administrator, auditors, and internal stakeholders (tax, legal, compliance, investor services, treasury)
Support internal and external reporting requirements, including management KPIs and investor due diligence
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required;
CPA preferred
5–7 years of experience in fund accounting or financial reporting (private credit or investment management preferred)
Public accounting experience a plus
Familiarity with fund structures, leverage facilities, and middle-market credit products strongly preferred
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive with strong communication skills
