Overview
Performs skilled and technical work involving repair, inspection, maintenance and calibration of electrical equipment, process controllers, analog and digital process indicators, distributed control systems, electronic and electromechanical governors, and other control and monitoring equipment associated with electrical power generation. Responsible for preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on plant equipment as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor, plus inventory control, housekeeping, and troubleshooting of operating components and computer interfaces. Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. Responsibilities
Perform scheduled maintenance, routine inspections, and emergency repairs on plant instrumentation and electrical systems. Maintain and coordinate all site calibration testing requirements, records, documentation, and files. Assist Maintenance Supervisor with material and spare parts inventory control. Troubleshoot, repair, and supervise DCS, telecommunications equipment, LAN and computer systems, site PLCs, and continuous emission monitoring systems. Assist in maintaining total plant housekeeping. Maintain and troubleshoot all breakers, switchgear, and protective systems. Maintain and troubleshoot all transformers and related systems. Assist in trouble shooting and operations of all site equipment and plant operations as required. Perform other duties as assigned, including supporting other FMPA fleet sites. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to visually read and respond to computer-generated data, instrumentation, gauges, readouts, and variations in color. Manual dexterity to operate keyboards, pushbuttons, dials, valves, and mechanically actuated devices. Familiar with power plant emergency situations and safety procedures (including lock out/tag out). Ability to read and comprehend technical bulletins, P&IDs, ladder logic, and SAMA logic. Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces, elevated platforms, ladders, and walkways up to 110 feet. Ability to wear and work with self-contained breathing apparatus where required. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs from floor to waist and manipulate up to 20 lbs in awkward positions. Willingness to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions and to work 12-hour rotating shifts. Availability for callouts and overtime for all FMPA facilities. Special Requirements
May be required to undergo respirator fit testing, spirometry testing and evaluation, and training in using applicable respirators safely, as identified by NIOSH and OSHA 1910.134 and industry standards. Education and Experience
Graduation from high school or GED, supplemented by technical school coursework and experience in maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, process control equipment and instrumentation. Must be experienced with computers and software associated with control systems. Experience in steam process and power generation is desired. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Physical Requirements
Heavy lifting (45 lbs and over); heavy carrying (45 lbs and over); reaching above shoulders; use of fingers; use of both hands; climbing; visual and color discrimination; good hearing. Wear protective equipment including safety glasses, face shields, hearing protection, gloves, and hard hats. Work may occur indoors or outdoors in varying conditions, including heat, cold, high humidity, bright sun, dampness, and on ladders or scaffolding at heights up to 50 feet.
