Overview

Under the general supervision of the Building Official, performs specialized and responsible work, including receiving, reviewing and evaluating construction permit and local business tax receipt applications and administrative compliance. The License Permit Technician is responsible for typing, filing, office machine operation, and maintenance of construction permits, local business tax receipts and contractor registrations. The License Permit Technician is responsible for understanding both the Citizenserve and Central Square (Naviline) functions as it pertains to their job. Responsibilities

Receives, records, processes, evaluates, and distributes local business tax receipt applications submitted to the department and ensures administrative compliance. Coordinates required building, code enforcement, fire safety, zoning and environmental inspections and compiles results. Maintains historical records and logs for local business tax receipts that have been processed. Issues local business tax receipts after collecting payment. Disseminates appropriate city codes or local business tax receipts applications information to applicants and the general public. Provides information on how to apply for a building permit using the Citizenserve portal. Sends notices for renewal and/or obtaining required local business tax receipts for all businesses. Maintains cash drawer for payments related to business tax receipt and building permits, and monitors and deposits all funds received through operating functions. Responsible for maintaining a balanced drawer and provide audit details to Finance as requested. Prepares relative reports for business tax receipt and building permits for submission to Finance as required. Reviews all building permit applications submitted for compliance with the City Code and Florida Building Code. Routes permit applications to the appropriate review level and issues all permits upon final approval and receipt of payment. Demonstrates working knowledge of Central Square (Naviline), Citizenserve and basic Microsoft Office to access assigned modules and reports. Essential Employees may be required to work during a declared or undeclared emergency. Performs other related job duties as assigned. Knowledge of local business tax receipt and construction permitting codes, regulations and policies. Knowledge of business English, punctuation, arithmetic, and spelling; modern office practices and procedures. Skill in the application of modern office techniques and practices. Skill in the use and care of pertinent office machines and equipment. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion with minimum supervision and adhere to prescribed routines and practices. Ability to type at least forty (40) wpm. Ability to maintain complex records and make reports requiring extreme accuracy. Ability to work well with others and to assist the public cooperatively and courteously. Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED certificate with courses in typing and other clerical subjects with two (2) years of successful diversified office experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Special Qualifications

For positions requiring the operation of City vehicles, must possess a valid current Florida driver's license, or be able to acquire one within 45 days of hire. Required

The work is generally medium and may require exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers. Speaking / Talking: Ability to communicate clearly, accurately and concisely through speech. Stooping: Ability occasionally bend the body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. Visual Acuity: Ability to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and/or extensive reading, operating motor vehicles; including color, depth perception, and field vision. Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks and moving from one work site to another. Work Environment
