Providence is seeking Part-Time and On-Call Teachers to join our team of compassionate, reliable and open-hearted early childhood educators at Providence Mount St. Vincent's Intergenerational Learning Center (ILC). We are a play-based and social/emotional focused program that puts relationships at the center of our work. Our program has won awards and is internationally recognized for its intergenerational efforts, offering childcare within a skilled nursing facility to help people of all ages learn, grow and understand one another. About the Intergenerational Learning Center (ILC)
The Intergenerational Learning Center (ILC) is an award-winning childcare program located in West Seattle, WA. Interaction between infants, toddlers, preschool-aged children and the 400 elderly residents of Providence Mount St. Vincent is a core part of daily activities, enriching opportunities for children and people of all ages to connect. The program emphasizes problem-solving and teachers as facilitators who guide children toward thoughtful solutions throughout the day. Responsibilities
Be responsible for the overall care of children in the Intergenerational Learning Center, including planning and implementing stimulating indoor and outdoor daily activities. Plan intergenerational activities and nurturing interactions between elderly residents and children. Use developmentally appropriate interactive strategies per approved guidelines, such as active listening, supporting children in problem solving through negotiation, and encouraging the child’s own thinking. Within 30 days of hire: STARs Basic Child Care Center Certificate or equivalent as determined by program manager Upon hire: Registered in Washington STARS Registry for early childhood personnel Upon hire: Apply for a Portable Background Check through the WA DCYF MERIT system prior to first day At least 2 years of experience working with children ages birth to 5 years Preferred qualifications
Coursework/Training and completion of CDA or at least 12 ECE-related credits as determined by program manager; or Associate’s Degree (AA) in ECE or Child Development or an AA in another field with at least 12 ECE-related credits as determined by program manager; or Bachelor’s Degree in ECE or Child Development or in another field with at least 12 ECE-related credits as determined by program manager.
