JOB TITLE - Assistant Middle School Girls Track Coach Employer - Urbandale Community School District Responsibilities

Coaching Performance - Interpersonal relations Promote sportsmanship at events and practices. Prepare and implement practice plans and set yearly goals for each team as well as the program as a whole. Display good team preparation in areas of team mechanics, emotional readiness and skill development. Show concern for the safety and well being of athletes. Personal conduct and ethical behavior; command respect and set the example; treat others with respect. Cooperation with other coaches; share knowledge and cooperate with other coaches. Display respect for other sports and programs; consider the program as part of a larger athletic department. Maintain positive, encouraging, and supportive communication with athletes. Establish and maintain consistent discipline in accordance with administrative policy. Demonstrate concern for the athletes\' academic program and conduct; acknowledge student achievement. Develop eligibility lists, equipment needs and program information; ensure athletes complete pre-participation requirements. Oversee inventory, record keeping, transportation, purchasing, fundraising, and program management in line with Athletic Department policy. Manage the entire program, not just the varsity level. Provide supervision and administration of team members in regard to contests and events, practices, buses and locker rooms; cooperate with staff and administration; participate in in-service and professional athletic meetings. Accept recommendations and suggestions from supervisors; implement an effective public relations program with media, colleges/universities, parents and students. Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities

Knowledge of sports and rules. Demonstrate proper care of injuries and injury prevention. Demonstrate knowledge of the sport and its rules and regulations; uphold ethics. Ability to align with program philosophy and ethics. Certification/Licensure

Appropriate BOEE licensure. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Promote sportsmanship, prepare and implement practice plans, and set goals for the program. Demonstrate and model safe practice and team preparation; ensure athlete safety. Provide leadership and professional conduct; communicate effectively with athletes and staff. Coordinate with other coaches and staff; maintain program integrity and ethical standards. Physical Requirements

Repetitious bending, lifting, and hand movement. Ability to work while standing, moving and/or walking. Drug, tobacco, and alcohol-free while working. Must be able to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective lenses or hearing aids. Ability to operate a motor vehicle used to travel between sites. Terms of Employment

Per Board Policies and the UEA Master Contract. Contract as determined by sport and season dates. Performance evaluated per Board Policy.
