Responsibilities
Purchases and replenishes Specialty items through proper buying procedures. Ensures orders are timely and accurate to monitor inventory turns. Explain how WFM products differ from conventional stores to customers. Achieve and exceed assigned margin and sales targets. Create effective merchandising displays and ensure proper signage and pricing. Participate in national, regional and store promotional programs. Sample department products to customers; oversee customer special order procedure. Process invoices and returns; maintain organized and safe back stock area. Analyze and control product waste and spoilage; complete required worksheets. Arrive on time, groomed, and ready to work; attend required trainings and meetings. Provide excellent customer service and use suggestive selling techniques; handle phones and pages promptly. Maximize sales potential through proper prep, storage, rotation, stocking, and merchandising. Follow procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices. Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; ensure equipment safety compliance. Perform opening, mid, and closing duties; verify accuracy of signs and pricing. Report safety hazards and violations immediately. Perform other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership. Qualifications and Skills
Extensive specialty knowledge, including production, distribution, seasonal availability, advances and trends. Willingness to learn about products and nutritional information. Working knowledge of specialty merchandising expectations. Desire to grow with the Specialty team; ability to educate team on product knowledge. Strong basic math skills; proficiency with computer programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook and ordering systems. Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team. Ability to deliver information clearly to team members, customers, and vendors. Ability to meet customer service expectations and follow directions; effective time management and organization. Passion for natural foods and the mission of Whole Foods Market; ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Understanding of and compliance with quality goals. Experience
12+ months retail experience. Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Stand/walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day. Hand use: grasping, manipulation, pushing and pulling; various motions including bending, twisting, squatting, reaching. Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals; temperature ranges from freezing to hot environments; ability to work in a wet and cold environment. Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Ability to use tools and equipment such as box cutters and electric pallet jacks. Where applicable, TIPS course completion required and must be 18 or older to serve alcohol. Notes
