Overview

Join American Forest Management, Inc. (AFM) as a Forester in Northeast Texas/Arkansas. Reporting directly to the District Manager, this role involves comprehensive forest management, including planning, permitting, timber harvest, road construction, silviculture, client reporting, and budgeting. Additional duties may be assigned by the District and Region Manager. Responsibilities

All aspects of fieldwork, office work, analysis, and reporting to landowner/client. Assist in managing all aspects of logging operations including harvest setup, harvest inspections, and merchandising trees into various forest products. Assist in planning, administration, and inspection of other forestry-related activities such as road construction and maintenance, timber marking, boundary establishment, and other land management projects as assigned. Monitor BMP and EMS compliance to ensure third party SFI Certification. Use Geographic Information System (GIS) to assist in managing TIMO lands. Participate in forest inventory projects individually or with a team. Generate new business by meeting with potential clients to explain our services and capabilities. Create management plans that capture landowner objectives and offer solutions to achieve those goals. Perform timber sale development, including timber inventory, boundary establishment, preparing timber sale bid notices, marketing, and reviewing timber sale contracts. Prepare and negotiate contracts with independent contractors for clients’ management services. Supervise contracted services, including certifying completion of work for payment. Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry. 3-5 years of experience preferred. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficient team player with adaptability. Strong leadership skills and experience leading a diverse team. Capability to work in challenging field conditions. Valid Driver’s License with safe vehicle operation skills. Preferred experience with ArcGIS software. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools like Word and Excel. Soft skills: communication, teamwork, problem-solving, adaptability, attention to detail, time management and decision-making. Other Requirements

Highly proficient with MS Word, Excel, and GIS software. Proficiency in GPS, handheld data recorders, and tablet-based inventory programs. Required travel and ability to function as a team member on large projects throughout the U.S. Work Environment

This role balances office work with remote field assignments (approximately 70% field, 30% office). Fieldwork may involve solo ventures into remote forest lands accessed by private unimproved roads and may require off-road driving. Expect extended periods outdoors in variable weather. Travel to properties in Northeast Texas & Arkansas is required, potentially including out-of-town and overnight stays (expenses covered). Salary and Benefits
