NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises TELEMUNDO UTAH is seeking a News Anchor/MMJ responsible for the writing and on-air delivery of daily newscasts. The ideal candidate will also shoot, write & edit news stories for all platforms, including broadcast, web, social media, and OTT. They will work closely with producers to ensure stories are accurately written and presented on all platforms.
Responsibilities
Present newscasts to the viewer in a professional manner, including breaking news during live newscasts and on all platforms (digital, social media, OTT).
Research, write and present stories that attract viewers; shoot, write & edit news stories for station newscasts, recorded programs and/or other live broadcasts (studio or on location).
Write and produce stories, headlines and news updates for broadcast and all digital platforms including OTT.
Present completed stories with fair, accurate and community-relevant content.
Generate ideas and report breaking news in studio or on location.
Coordinate, organize and conduct interviews.
Develop ongoing “sweeps” style stories.
Adhere to the NBC – Telemundo News Standards and Guidelines and company mission, vision and standards.
Actively share news content on social media platforms and follow NBC – Telemundo Social Media Policies and Standards.
Make appearances before social and civic groups, and at schools and colleges on behalf of the station.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience as television reporter; anchoring experience; shooting and editing skills with various software (including Edius); BA or BS in Journalism, Communications or Political Science preferred.
Excellent writing skills in Spanish and strong speech skills.
Ability to ad-lib effortlessly in breaking news situations.
Enterprise reporting skills; strong live reporting skills.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and in a team environment; flexible schedule including 24x7 shifts, long hours, weekends and holidays with short notice.
Eligibility Requirements
Must be willing to work in Utah.
Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
Must be 18 years or older.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must be fluent in Spanish (speak, read & write).
Must be able to provide a reel/portfolio of work examples; include a web address when submitting your resume (if applicable).
Desired Characteristics
News judgment with ethical decision-making.
Strong English and Spanish communication skills.
Competitive, able to perform under tight deadlines and respond quickly to breaking news with live cut-ins.
Ability to ad-lib in various situations and generate creative story ideas.
