CCH is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to join our executive team and provide strategic clinical leadership across the organization. The CMO will function at an executive level, advising the hospital's governing body, CEO, medical staff, and hospital leaders on patient care and clinical oversight matters. This role is responsible for evaluating medical innovations, helping shape service line scopes, and defining strategic organizational medical plans to maximize patient outcomes.
Key responsibilities
Optimizing organizational structure, policies, and procedures with consideration of clinical implications.
Designating and evaluating clinical leaders; serving as a liaison between providers and administration.
Providing administrative leadership to several committees, including Physician Recruiting and Retention and Joint Conference Committees, and leading the Department of Anesthesia.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of Campbell County Health.
Ensuring organization maintains highest standards of patient care.
Participating in executive and governing body meetings.
Monitoring healthcare regulations and ensuring compliance.
Staying updated on clinical and management advancements to guide strategy.
Integrating clinical perspectives into organizational strategic planning.
Promoting efficient clinical staffing and supporting budgeting for provider services.
Collaborating on planning for facilities, equipment, and supplies impacting clinical care.
Overseeing and updating physician recruiting policies and setting recruitment goals.
Assisting in credentialing, privileging, and evaluating provider performance.
Ensuring accurate medical recordkeeping and proper provider committee assignments.
Directing the Medical Staff Services Office.
Fostering professional, interdisciplinary practice environment and evidence-based care.
Resolving cross-departmental patient care issues and ensuring administrative-clinical oversight.
Providing mentorship and leadership development for medical leaders.
Promoting open communication and collaboration with staff and departments.
Holding providers accountable for productivity and quality goals.
Advising on risk management and developing quality improvement initiatives.
Monitoring compliance with medical standards and regulatory requirements.
Overseeing patient care complaints and the Quality & Risk Management Office.
Managing the Department of Anesthesia operations, staffing, and budgets.
Providing weekly activity reports to the CEO; serving as administrator on call as assigned.
Complying with the hospital's compliance program and maintaining eligibility for healthcare practice.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications Education, Training, Experience:
Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine. Master’s in Health Administration (MHA) or Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
Current Wyoming license to practice medicine.
Minimum 10 years of clinical experience.
Minimum 5 years as Chief Medical Officer.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Maintain continuing education requirements and all certifications and licenses as required (e.g., Board Certification, Continuing Medical Education, ATLS, ALS/ACLS, PALS, BLS) to maintain professional license while adhering to the ethical code of CMO.
Strong knowledge of medical operations.
Excellent interpersonal skills with patients, family, staff, hospital management, the board of directors and external stakeholders; ability to communicate sensitive business matters to individuals with varying levels of understanding.
Able to consistently communicate positively under stress.
Demonstrated ability to develop and support teamwork.
Able to prioritize multiple details and troubleshoot problems.
Ability to problem-solve, act decisively, and take effective action with employees, hospital management, vendors, the public, the board of directors, and other external stakeholders.
Computer literacy; ability to operate software applications.
Analytical, reasoning, and interpretive skills with a high level of mental concentration and memory.
Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge, medical skill, and ability to apply medical decision making appropriate to patient care in the CMO's medical specialty.
