Law Student Practitioner works under attorney supervision to conduct legal research, prepare legal research memos and documents, and represent Dakota County where permitted. The Dakota County Attorney\'s Office has four divisions: Civil, Adult Criminal, Child Support Enforcement, and Juvenile, Protective Services & Appellate. Law Clerks work in our Service Centers in West St Paul (Child Support) or Hastings (all other divisions). We are currently accepting applicants for: Child Support Division. Responsibilities

Perform basic legal research and writing; analyze legal issues by applying the facts to applicable law; prepare memoranda and documents. Represent legal arguments orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner where permitted. Maintain confidentiality of privileged communications. Work under pressure; think independently; exercise discretion in dealing with the public and department heads or their representatives. Collaborate with the team to support the division\'s goals. Qualifications and Skills

Knowledge or interest in case law and procedures in the applicable division. Ability to perform basic legal research and writing; ability to analyze legal issues. Strong written and oral communication; ability to present clear arguments. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information. Ability to work under pressure and maintain professional relationships. Willingness to learn and improve. Work Environment

Work is primarily sedentary; some walking and standing may occur during meetings, conferences, or while researching files. Dexterity to operate a keyboard and mouse for extended periods. Selection Process
