Responsibilities
As an OB Tech on our team, you will assist in smooth daily operations of the Labor & Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum unit. You may perform direct and indirect patient care including vitals, hygiene measures, and basic care for antepartum, postpartum and newborn patients. Assists with vaginal deliveries under the direction of a Registered Nurse and provider and within scope of practice. Functions as a Scrub Tech for surgical procedures. Maintains supplies and equipment on the unit. Assists with maintenance of Point of Care Testing and High Level Disinfection equipment. Performs clerical and business support tasks as assigned. Assumes personal accountability for organizational mission and core values.
Day To Day / Operations
Primary duties include scrubbing on C-Sections (emergent/scheduled), D&C’s, emergency hysterectomies, and assisting with vaginal deliveries. Provide additional supplies and sterile instruments as needed. Maintain sterile field during procedures. Function in a secretarial role when coverage is not available. Assist with room turnover and restocking for next day’s cases. Answer call lights and doors, make charts, perform patient check-in and rooming, and arrive/discharge patients in EPIC. Deliveries per month: 40-50. Facility includes 1 OR Suite, 1 Triage Room, 12 LDRP Beds, 4 Pediatric Rooms, 7 open bay NICU Level II rooms. Schedule: 24 hrs/week – Nights; variable shift times per surgical volume and unit needs. Call required: 2 shifts per 6 week schedule block – Days and Nights. 30 min call back radius required; 15 mins preferred for cesarean sections when on call.
Qualifications
In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following: One-year patient care experience preferred, e.g. OB Tech, LPN/LVN, EMT, CNA Medical Assistant or Surgical Tech experience Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; basic computer skills High School graduate or GED Completion of a Surgical Tech program, preferred Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association Colorado Surgical Assistant License or Surgical Technician upon hire unless performing Surgical Assistant duties within the scope of another active Colorado license, certification, or registration (required for Colorado employed staff only) Physical Requirements: Medium work - exert up to 50 lbs occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs constantly.
