Overview The UW Medicine - Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology (DLMP) in Seattle, WA has a fantastic opportunity for a Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 1 with the Specimen Procurement Team at Harborview Medical Center. As a CLT 1, you will play a vital role in the diagnostic process of laboratory testing. You may process and prepare specimens for testing, perform blood draws on patients, and provide excellent customer service, influencing the timely and accurate diagnosis of patients at UW Medicine and beyond. Our Specimen Procurement Team embraces diversity, collaboration, and a supportive work culture.

Day shift

Responsibilities

Perform Specimen Process Activities: receive, sort, and prioritize specimens and requests; match specimens against requisitions for appropriate tube type; centrifuge and aliquot specimens; process timed urine collections; resulting and reviewing entries for all reference lab testing; perform blood draws on patients; and execute various computer functions.

Perform Customer Service: respond promptly, courteously, and professionally to inquiries from patients, clients, and hospital and laboratory staff.

Share Your Knowledge: orient and train new employees, participate in performance improvement activities, and support the hospital in meeting JCAHO, CLIA, and CAP accreditation standards.

Utilize Problem-Solving Skills: resolve specimen and order-related problems in a timely, thorough, and accurate manner and provide appropriate documentation for supervisor review.

Qualifications

High school graduation or equivalent AND one (1) year of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience

OR Completion of a laboratory assistant course approved by the American Society for Clinical Pathology

OR Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Additional DLMP Requirements

Medical Assistant – Phlebotomist (MA-P) certification with the Washington State Department of Health OR obtain the MA-P certification within 180 days of start date.

Desired Qualifications

Associate or bachelor’s degree in science

Experience in a major medical hospital laboratory

Experience with a Laboratory Information System (LIS)

Compensation, Benefits And Position Details Pay Range Minimum: $54,828.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum: $78,420.00 annual
