Attorney - Legal & Corp Secretary - Akron FirstEnergy is seeking an Attorney - Legal & Corp Secretary - Akron. The role involves regulatory matters, advising internal clients on statutory and regulatory developments, and handling matters before state regulatory commissions. The attorney will manage their own case load and handle complex regulatory projects, reporting to the Managing Counsel for state regulatory matters. Responsibilities Handling legal/regulatory matters before the state utility commissions and appellate courts Working on complex regulatory matters as part of a team with attorneys, business units, and outside counsel Managing multiple ongoing cases simultaneously Drafting and reviewing legal pleadings and business documents Representing the Company in mediation and litigation of customer disputes Providing legal support and strategic business advice to FirstEnergy business units on state regulatory matters Assisting with regulatory matters before various state public utility regulatory agencies Working on litigated matters and administrative rulemaking proceedings Qualifications J.D. degree from an accredited university Minimum 2 years relevant work experience (legal practice, writing, and handling complex matters) Member in good standing of the Ohio state bar Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to work with all levels within the organization; strong work ethic, initiative, and organizational skills Ability to understand new topical areas, multitask, and meet deadlines Experience related to state public utility regulation and practice before state regulatory commissions; electric utility industry experience is helpful Ability to work independently and as part of a team on complex matters Benefits & Diversity FirstEnergy offers a total rewards package including competitive pay, a company-sponsored pension plan, a 401(k) with employer matching, medical/dental/vision/life insurance programs, tuition reimbursement, and skills development opportunities.
