Develops designs, assembles, and implements tooling/machine and processes necessary to produce new products and enhance existing ones. Designs line layouts to ensure efficiency. Investigates and resolves production line or tooling/machine design problems. Recommends purchases of capital equipment.
Essential Functions:
Designs, develops, and implements production line layout or tooling/machine design or modifications to produce products and reduce injuries.
Investigates and resolves production line (work centers) or tooling design problems.
Determines costs of implementing new products on line layout.
Develops work methods to improve production operator efficiency through quality tracking, interviews with associates, review of production line performance, and training.
Identifies and selects vendors for tooling/equipment, fixtures, and supplies; recommends orders as necessary.
Tracks production line performance.
Coordinates transportation and sample builds.
Secondary Functions:
Serves on various committees as needed (backup for Sr. Manufacturing Engineer).
Performs other duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
4-year degree in mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or equivalent field.
3-5 years experience in production line or tooling/machine design.
Knowledge of blueprints, process analysis, and drafting terminology.
Knowledge of broad machine shop and basic accounting principles.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Office environment with noise from peripherals.
Factory environment with noise, moving equipment, and potential hazards.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds daily.
