Job Purpose
With minimal supervision, support assigned department(s). This work will include overseeing and directing fixturing, tooling, error proofing, and gage design. Experience with milling and turning is required. Must have strong CNC programming skills and be fluent in CAD. Working knowledge of automation and controls is an advantage. Assembly process experience is an advantage.
Job will require strong troubleshooting skills and ability to lead cross‑functional teams. Will develop scopes of work, request quotations from vendors, submit requisitions, perform cost justifications, and participate in machine run‑offs. The Process Engineer is also responsible for helping to support plant goals such as safety, quality, delivery, and cost savings.
The process engineer must take ownership of projects and be able to work into off‑shift hours and weekends as needed.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and update documentation, including process sheets, PFMEA’s, and control plans.
Train production supervisors and team leaders in production departments.
Resolve quality and tooling issues.
Assist in troubleshooting processes and machine issues.
Support layout development to facilitate Dana’s production system.
Develop and maintain poka‑yoke devices.
Develop and maintain automation solutions for manufacturing.
Develop, update, and maintain documentation, including process sheets, PFMEA’s, and control plans.
Responsible for timely completion of all estimates.
Obtain quotations for new capital and tooling as needed.
Blackboard or directional estimates as required.
Capacity analysis.
Involved in divisional manufacturing strategy.
Planning of equipment moves within Ft Wayne and Group.
Job Qualifications
B.S. degree and minimum 3 years related job experience; or 7 years’ experience in related engineering field, technology field, CNC programming capability.
Possess the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications, thorough understanding of GD&T, gaging, and print requirements is a must.
Must have proven mechanical aptitude.
Must work effectively, efficiently, and is a self‑starter.
Must demonstrate proficient written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
Must be able to use various computer operating systems and software as necessary to complete required job functions, including PC applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.), and machine‑specific operating systems and software applications.
Must possess thorough knowledge of the proper usage and application of measuring equipment.
Must demonstrate convincing prior training and work experience in problem solving techniques.
Must demonstrate strength of character to perform and succeed in a high‑pressure manufacturing environment.
