The Salisbury VA Medical Center is excited to announce an opportunity for a dedicated Comprehensive Ophthalmologist to join our team! 8:00-4:30pm

Call Coverage:

Per rotation 1 week every 5 weeks

Position Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is impossible to recruit qualified citizens, in accordance with VA policy.
  • Education: A Doctor of Medicine degree or an equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine is required.
  • Licensure: Candidates must possess a current, complete, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state, territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Residency: Completion of a residency program in an accredited core specialty.
  • Board Certification: Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Ophthalmology.
  • Preferred experience in treating medical retina conditions with anti-VEGF therapies, basic glaucoma, and cataracts.

  • Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, and regular salary increases.
  • Paid Time Off: days of paid time off per year (including 26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays, and a possible five-day paid absence for CME).
  • Retirement: Traditional federal pension (vesting after 5 years) and federal 401(k) with up to 5% contributions by VA.
  • Insurance: Federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term care insurance (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement).
  • Licensure: One full and unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory.
  • CME: Possible reimbursement of $1,000 per year (must be full-time with board certification).
  • Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided.
  • Contract: No physician employment contract and no significant restrictions on moonlighting.
