Overview As the Executive Chef, you will oversee all kitchen operations, ensuring a safe, sanitary, and efficient work environment. You will lead menu planning, direct meal preparation, and uphold Compass standards for quality and consistency. This role requires strong leadership, culinary expertise, and the ability to train and develop staff. Candidates must have reliable transportation and be able to commute to different units across the state of Indiana as needed.
Responsibilities Plan and execute menus according to established guidelines
Ensure recipes, portioning, and presentation meet company standards
Oversee daily production, waste logs, and taste testing for quality control
Train and mentor kitchen staff in culinary techniques, food safety, and sanitation
Maintain cleaning and equipment schedules; ensure compliance by staff
Manage inventory and control costs while ensuring product availability
Properly utilize leftover food in line with company policies
Comply with all federal, state, and local health/safety regulations
Enforce company safety procedures, including incident reporting
Actively participate in meetings, staff development, and client programs
Qualifications Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
5+ years progressive culinary or kitchen management experience
High-volume and complex foodservice operations experience strongly preferred
Catering and institutional/batch cooking experience a plus
Hands-on chef leadership experience required
Strong knowledge of culinary trends, sanitation, cost controls, and presentation
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related technology
ServSafe certification highly desirable
Willingness to engage in client satisfaction initiatives
