Facilities Department - Evening Custodian (2pm - 10:30pm)
Position Summary: The Facilities Department is seeking a dependable and motivated
Evening Custodian
to join our team. This position plays an important role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our students, staff, and community. The regular shift is
2:00 PM to 10:30 PM , though hours may vary during summer or non-student days. The position begins
as soon as possible . Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Clean and disinfect classrooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, and other building areas. Sanitize fixtures such as toilets, sinks, drinking fountains, and showers. Empty trash and recycling containers in all rooms. Set up rooms and areas for special events or activities. Maintain custodial closets and storage areas in a clean and safe manner. Perform laundry tasks as needed (e.g., towels, uniforms). Operate cleaning equipment and heating systems safely and efficiently. Secure all doors and windows at the end of each shift. Report safety concerns or maintenance needs promptly to the Facilities Manager. Request needed custodial supplies and equipment in a timely manner. Perform minor repairs such as changing light bulbs, painting, or adjusting fixtures. Assist the Lead Custodian or Facilities Manager with larger projects as assigned. Participate in summer deep cleaning and maintenance projects. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information (e.g., student records). Follow all district policies, procedures, and safety regulations. Qualifications: Prefer at least
one year of custodial or maintenance experience . Ability to safely use and understand cleaning materials and chemicals, including reading and applying label instructions. Ability to operate custodial tools and equipment. Knowledge of proper methods for maintaining clean, healthy, and orderly school facilities. Positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to learn new skills. Ability to perform heavy physical labor, including lifting up to
50 pounds . Ability to follow directions and competently work independently or cohesively as part of a team. Professionalism and ability to interact positively with staff, students, and the public. Physical Requirements: Standing and walking for 6-8 hours per shift. Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and reaching. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine motor tasks. Ability to operate equipment with hand and/or foot controls. Work may involve exposure to temperature changes and occasional hazardous conditions. Terms of Employment: Full-time, 12-month position
with a 120-calendar-day probationary period. Regular hours:
2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
on student days. Hours may shift to daytime during school breaks or summer months. This position is part of a union bargaining unit and follows the terms of the current collective bargaining agreement. Salary and work year per the current classified negotiated agreement. Rate of pay depends on relevant experience, but ranges from $18.27 to $23.18/hour. Comprehensive benefits package including full medical coverage and paid leave (leave prorated until completion of probationary period). Required Clearance:
Criminal Justice Background Check and Fingerprint Clearance. Performance evaluated according to School Board policy for classified employees.
