General Description: Under the direct supervision of the manager, transcribes from dictation procedures performed in the applicable department, offsite clinics and provides for the department general secretarial tasks. The position shall exemplify the desired Culture of Choice® and philosophies of Parrish Healthcare.
Key Responsibilities: Transcribes from dictation procedures performed in the applicable department. Ensures all patient reports are transcribed in a timely and accurate manner within 24 hours of dictation. Utilizes knowledge of terminology pertinent to medical transcription specific to department and to assure accuracy of reports. Provides for physicians' verification by routing draft reports to the physicians for review. Retrieves signed reports and makes necessary corrections. Transcribes dictation by cardiologists for cardiac studies performed in conjunction with Diagnostic Imaging Department. Provides verification of reports by routing draft to the Cardiopulmonary Department for cardiologists' approval/correction. Operates dictation and computer equipment effectively to include patient exam information, printing/editing reports, and signing off completed work. Responsible for running pertinent operational lists to include: reports in draft status, taken list; and dispersing appropriately. Monitors all report fields for accuracy (i.e. ordering from proper locations) and follows through with corrections as needed. Troubleshoots problems regarding transcription and dictation with all staff and physicians as appropriate alerting supervisor of variances. Reports equipment and process problems to supervisor for repair and maintenance as appropriate. Utilizes time productively during downtime or other times of decreased transcription activity by assisting in other areas of the department (i.e. Front Office, Diagnostic Program Assistant, or other clerical functions, etc.). Performs similar or related duties as assigned. Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as it pertains to the work area Requirements: Formal Education:
