  • Schedule: 24-hour coverage (solo pediatrician on for full 24/7 period)

  • Setting: Small community hospital - 70 beds
  • Nursery Level: Level II
  • FTE: Solo pediatrician coverage
  • EMR: Cerner
  • Support Staff: RN team available
  • Emergency Codes: Run by emergency medicine physicians
Clinical Details
  • Average Admissions per Day:
  • Pediatric: 4 (range 3-5)
  • Newborn/Nursery: 7 (range 3-15)
  • ICU Patients: None (no PICU or NICU; stabilize and transfer as needed)
  • ER Coverage: Pediatrician provides in-person evaluation or phone consult per ER physician determination
  • Deliveries/C-Sections:
  • Routine deliveries: Pediatrician attends for well-baby nursery admissions only
  • High-risk deliveries: Covered by neonatologists Responsibilities
    • Provide care for patients ages 0-18
    • Standby/on-call for emergency or complicated C-sections
    • ED call coverage for pediatric patients
    • Perform neonatal resuscitation
    • Transfer high-risk or complex patients to a higher level of care
    Requirements
    • Board Certification: Pediatrics - Board Certified or truly Board Eligible (Board Certified highly preferred)
    • State License: California - Required
    • Residency: Pediatrics Residency - Required
    • Certifications:
    • BLS - Required
    • DEA - Required
    • NRP or PALS - Required
