The
Dietary Aide
assists in the preparation, serving, and clean-up of meals for residents in accordance with facility policies, dietary guidelines, and resident care plans. This role helps ensure that residents receive nutritious, appealing, and safe meals in a clean and welcoming dining environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in meal preparation under the supervision of the Dietary Manager or Cook.
Serve meals and snacks to residents in the dining room or deliver trays to resident rooms as needed.
Set up dining areas, including tables, chairs, condiments, and service ware.
Assist with dishwashing and cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas.
Follow resident diet orders, including special diets, texture modifications, and portion sizes.
Ensure food safety standards and infection control procedures are followed.
Assist in maintaining proper food storage, labeling, and rotation.
Provide friendly, respectful service to residents, visitors, and staff.
Report any concerns related to residents’ meals, appetite, or special requests to the Dietary Manager or Nursing staff.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Prior experience in food service, healthcare, or hospitality preferred but not required.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation standards.
Strong customer service and teamwork skills.
Compassion and respect for working with the elderly and individuals with disabilities.
