Assisted Living Community in Beacon is currently seeking a dietary aide to join our dynamic team. Excellent Union benefits available for all (full-time) employees after 90 days.

The Dietary Aide supports the preparation and delivery of meals in an assisted living environment, ensuring residents receive nutritious, appetizing meals in a clean and welcoming dining setting. This role helps maintain sanitary kitchen and dining conditions and assists in accommodating residents’ dietary needs and preferences.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in meal preparation, portioning, and plating food in accordance with menu and dietary guidelines.

Serve meals to residents in a respectful, timely, and courteous manner.

Set up dining areas for meals and clean up afterward, including washing dishes, sanitizing tables, and sweeping/mopping floors.

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and food storage areas, following all safety and health regulations.

Stock food supplies and assist with inventory rotation (FIFO).

Follow special dietary orders, including low-sodium, diabetic, and mechanical soft diets.

Observe and report any changes in residents’ eating habits or concerns to appropriate staff.

Support team with other kitchen and dining tasks as needed.

Comply with infection control, OSHA, and facility policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Prior experience in food service, preferably in a healthcare or senior living setting, is a plus.

Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.

Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

Good communication and customer service skills.

Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.

Food Handler’s Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire, based on state/local requirements).

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.

Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.

Comfortable working in a warm, fast-paced kitchen and dining area.

Responsibilities include: Ensuring the food preparation areas are clean and hygienic. Washing utensils and dishes and making sure they are stored appropriately. Sorting, storing and distributing ingredients to chef. Assisting with washing, peeling, chopping, cutting and cooking food items and helping to prepare salads and desserts, as needed and directed by head chef. Table

set up and clearing before and after meal service and disposal of garbage and waste properly. Cleaning the food preparation equipment, floors and other kitchen tools or dining areas.
