Overview

Phlebotomist role at Westchester Medical Center Health Network. The phlebotomy function is based on operational hours of all APS practices. Travel to offsite locations may be required to perform specimen collections.

Responsibilities

• Draw blood tests from patients as per physician orders
• Enter physician orders into laboratory system to produce requisite labels for specimens
• Order supplies for required testing
• Ensure that bloods/samples are sent to the laboratory as per schedule to insure samples are viable
• Communicate with medical providers to clarify orders when needed

Qualifications / Requirements

• Experience: One-year phlebotomy experience preferred
• Education: High school graduate or equivalent
• Licenses / Certifications: Completion of a phlebotomy program/course or on-the-job training in phlebotomy with minimum of three years of experience. ASCP accreditation / certification highly desirable
• Other: Clerical experience desirable. Knowledge of medical terminology and computer data entry experience strongly preferred
