Overview
Senior Electrical Tester role at City Light & Power, Inc. Location: Colorado-based is preferred, however the Electrical Tester position can be located at other CLP Engineering locations, or remote in a state where CLP Engineering is registered. Due to the nature of our work as a Federal Contractor, candidates must be a US Citizen.
CLP Engineering (CLPE) is a full-service electric utility solutions engineering firm with more than twenty years' experience in electrical utility system ownership, upgrades, maintenance and operations through our sister company, City Light & Power. CLPE offers a wide range of power system engineering services to investor-owned, municipal, cooperative, government, industrial, and commercial customers.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Create plans for testing apparatus.
- Understand the theory behind and reason for testing with the ability to analyze results.
- Instrument transformer tests such as CT's/PT's/CCVT's/MU's.
- Power transformer testing - Power Factor, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.
- Cable testing - VLF/TD/PD.
- Automatic transfer switch testing & troubleshooting.
- Low, Medium and High voltage switchgear, SF6 and vacuum circuit breaker testing.
- Moderately complex relay calibration and power metering.
- Ability to perform complex troubleshooting.
- Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems and determine optimum equipment functioning.
- Prepare and maintain reports detailing all tests, repairs, and maintenance performed.
- Knowledge and understanding of practical application of electrical theory and hazards to perform the job safely.
- Interact positively with customers.

Skills & Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor Degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology or related field, or previous military experience preferred.
- Minimum of five (5+) years of relevant testing experience with:
- Presence of Voltage Verification
- Contact Resistance
- Insulation Resistance
- Test Equipment Set Up
- One-line Drawings
- NETA or NICET Certification (III or IV) or similar desired.
- Must have good PC skills including email, internet, data entry and Microsoft Excel. Experience with PowerDB a plus.
- Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
- Prefer OSHA 10 or 30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Available to work overtime hours and travel to the field for extended time periods.
- Able to work well both independently and as a contributing team member.
Other Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen.
- You will be required to obtain Military Base Access Security Clearance.
- A valid driver's license with a record that meets the CLP Fleet Policy is required.
Travel
Up to 75% travel.

CLPE offers an excellent benefits package that includes medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, 401k with company contribution, paid time off and paid holidays.
Hourly pay rate range: $45.00-$75.00 based on experience, plus eligible to participate in Short Term Incentive Plan. We reserve the right to pay more or less than the posted salary range based on factors unrelated to sex.
