Overview

Electronic Control Hardware Engineer role at Caterpillar Inc. for the Electronics Control Hardware Team responsible for development of high-quality electronic control module (ECM/ECU) product lines for engine, machine, and power distribution systems that meet complex requirements and low-cost producer (LCP) targets. Partner with suppliers to deliver production components and help the systems engineers integrate successfully into various applications.

What You Will Do

• Develops, improves, and troubleshoots electronic/electrical hardware used in an array of engine and machine systems.
• Development of product requirements, analysis and simulation, electronic component selection, schematic/layout review, and platform verification and validation. Some or all of these activities may be performed in partnership with a supplier including the manufacturing plan and process development.
• Advanced troubleshooting and analysis to resolve complex development and field issues and to improve overall performance and cost.
• Collaboration with global Caterpillar component, software, systems, and procurement teams as well as suppliers in multiple geographic regions
• Mentoring of other engineers on the ECM hardware team

Degree Requirement

• Requires a degree in an accredited Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering curriculum.

• Reliability Management - HTH: Knowledge of reliability management; ability to utilize various tools, techniques, methodologies and metrics to meet and manage hardware product performance and reliability objectives.
• Supplier Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.

Considerations For Top Candidates

• Master’s degree in accredited Electrical Engineering Curriculum
• Demonstrated technical knowledge and experience with analog and power supply designs including complex circuitry analysis and schematic/board layout reviews.
• Experience developing test plans and analyzing results for complex electronic control units
• Knowledge of the New Product Introduction Process and New Technology Introduction Process
• Must have the ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the workgroup, as well as employees in other units, customers, and suppliers.

Summary Pay Range

$110,520.00 - $165,840.00
