Overview

The Janitor 1 position is responsible for keeping the entire facility and grounds clean, sanitary and in compliance with all applicable health and sanitation codes to support the production of great artisan bread and delicious café food. This position may drive Grand Central Bakery vehicles to various Grand Central Bakery locations if requirements are met.

Responsibilities

  • Keep the facility and grounds clean and sanitary in compliance with health and sanitation codes.
  • Support the production of bread and café offerings through maintenance of a clean environment.
  • Drive Grand Central Bakery vehicles to various locations if requirements are met.

Qualifications and Skills

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Working knowledge of and ability to speak and understand basic English required.
  • Maintains food handler’s card – new hires are expected to have a valid card by their first date of work.
  • Must demonstrate regular attendance by coming to work on scheduled days and being on time.
  • Basic math skills required.
  • To drive, must have a valid Washington or Oregon driver’s license with 5 years of driving experience and a driving record acceptable to Grand Central Bakery, follow the Driver Safety Manual policies at all times, and pass a company driving test.
  • The ability to work independently and efficiently with a high degree of autonomy is required.
  • Flexibility and attention to detail to fulfill frequently changing task lists.

Physical requirements

  • Working in a building shared with production facilities.
  • Constant exposure to wheat and other grain dust and to cleaning chemicals in warm, dusty environments.
  • Walking up to the equivalent of 3 miles per shift; may be required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Location & Compensation

Location: Seattle Wholesale, 21 S. Nevada St., Seattle, WA 98134.

Rate of Pay: $21.97 per hour.

Schedule: Part-time, 24 or fewer hours per week. Must be able to work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Schedule flexibility and the ability to work weekends and holidays is required.
