Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our growing team in Houston, Texas. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in GAAP, experience leading accounting teams, and a proven ability to streamline processes and ensure accurate financial reporting. This role will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, managing month-end close, and supporting audits and compliance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and fixed assets
  • Manage and lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal financial policies and procedures
  • Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and regulatory reviews
  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy of financial data
  • Lead, mentor, and develop junior accounting staff
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and financial planning
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices
  • Maintain documentation for accounting procedures and workflows

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred)
  • CPA license preferred or required (customizable based on company needs)
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls
  • Proficient in accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or industry-specific software)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
