About the Role The

Family Coach

will be a part of our

FamilyWorks Program

at the Altgeld Gardens

Calumet

office. You will work with families in a collaborative, supportive manner to help them set, pursue, and achieve their goals, while honoring each family's expertise and using trauma‑informed practices.

Salary

The average starting salary for this position will fall in the range of $44,888 to $45,500 annually, based on skill and experience level.

Essential Job Functions

Works with the full family in a collaborative and supportive manner to help, motivate, and inspire individual and family goal setting while allowing the family to drive the work.

Has a deep respect for a family’s expertise, which is fundamental to establishing trust.

Helps the family identify strengths and works with families to utilize those strengths and build new ones.

Uses trauma‑informed practices.

Provides services according to values and principles for family‑centered coaching.

Completes intakes and monitors family goals and activities.

Completes senior assessments and monitors goals, activities, and referrals.

Provides follow‑up to ensure family goals are progressing or achieved.

Addresses the following areas: Foster Economic Independence, Increase Earning Power, Support Academic Achievement, Enhance Stability and Quality of Life.

Coordinates events and activities within the region to meet client needs and engage individuals, seniors, households in services.

Addresses housing related issues including lease compliance referrals from Property Management.

Assists families with meeting site‑based requirements and CHA work requirements.

Provides support services including transportation, childcare assistance, clothing and uniform assistance.

Records family progress in CMTS and case files.

Handles emergency and crisis situations with residents.

Works within contract, grant, and program requirements including meeting timelines and reporting requirements.

Utilizes a team approach and works with other program staff in planning and implementing services.

Takes increasing responsibility for own professional development and utilizes supervision and other developmental opportunities within and outside the agency.

Works effectively with diverse staff and service populations and is accountable for providing exceptional customer service.

Is required to work one Saturday and at least two late nights a month.

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated ability to render adequate service to clients and to organize and manage job efficiently.

Requires mobility to work with community‑based caseload.

Ability to maintain assigned community and home‑based services.

Ability to work with diverse individuals and groups.

Must be highly organized and possess knowledge of Excel to track data.

Qualifications

High School Diploma and 2+ years of experience required.

Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Additional Requirements

Satisfactorily pass all relevant screenings and criminal background checks.

Transportation/Travel Requirements

Driving for work required with a personally owned vehicle. Travel between sites required.

Physical Demands

The employee is required to sit and stand for sustained periods, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to handle objects or controls, occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel and crouch. Close visual acuity is required for tasks such as preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, and viewing a computer terminal.
