As a PwC Healthcare Consulting Actuary, you will be part of our exciting growing team that provides strategic, analytic and technical support to our payer and provider clients. Leading functions or projects involving actuarial aspects of commercial and government programs and issues in a major consulting firm or corporate environment, emphasizing areas that include pricing, underwriting, health plan financial reporting, data analysis, and risk adjustment.
Interpreting and applying regulatory requirements and standards to help clients meet both compliance and strategic objectives.
Employing entrepreneurial capability to help identify and evaluate new business opportunities and continuously innovate and improve processes and products.
Managing multiple projects and deadlines; managing others to achieve project objectives while also developing those individual’s skill sets; working with management and senior level executives at other organizations; understanding actuarial aspects of commercial and governmental healthcare programs; helping identify client / company issues and resources needed to solve problems; using analytical thinking skills to evaluate analyses for communication to clients / leaders; analysing clients medical claim data to understand historical trends and suggest opportunities to implement savings initiatives; writing medical cost and risk adjustment analytics using SAS; developing predictive analytics to identify gaps in health plan coding procedures and optimizing revenue streams; creating strategic roadmaps for clients entering new lines of business or markets; analysing financial statements to enhance reporting or allocation of administrative expenses; supporting payers and providers as they move down the value‑based care continuum; supporting mergers and acquisitions by evaluating a target’s financial statements and developing a quality of earnings adjustment; developing and utilizing pricing models to forecast earnings, budgets and pro‑formas; completing IBNR reserve analyses; researching business and industry trends to develop a point of view; innovating through new and existing technologies; working with large, complex data sets to build models and leverage data visualization tools; working independently and within a team; and being client focused and results oriented.
Salary range:
$99,000 - $232,000, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. For roles based in Maryland, this is the listed salary range. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications and location, and applicable employment laws.
