What You Will Do
This position will be filled at either Project Controls 2 or Project Controls 3, depending on the selected candidate’s skills. Additional responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
Project Controls 2 ( $78,700 - $125,100 ) The Project Controls position supports LANL project controls systems, processes, procedures and tools on a project or program. The PCE receives training and orientation relative to the LANL program and Project Control requirements. Responsibilities include planning and scheduling activities including schedule development, maintenance, and monitoring; cost engineering including estimating, analysis, and cost control; and earned value management. The PCE also supports change control, maintains metrics and indicators, and reports variance analysis. The group provides subject‑matter expertise and supports standard Project Management operations, applying the certified EVMS where appropriate, to ensure compliance and delivery within scope, schedule, and budget.
Project Controls 3 ( $94,500 - $154,600 ) Level 3 includes the responsibilities of Level 2 plus additional in‑depth duties. The candidate is expected to lead and be accountable with minimal supervision, maintain major attention to detail, and communicate effectively with customers, stakeholders, and management.
Minimum Job Requirements
Knowledge and experience in the Project Controls function and sub‑functions of cost and schedule.
Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions, including schedule development, control, and analysis.
Experience in cost engineering functions, including estimating, controlling, reporting, and variance analysis.
Knowledge of schedule software tools.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize, prioritize, and follow through on multiple tasks under strict deadlines and changing priorities.
Ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance.
Additional Requirements at Level 3
Little to no supervisory experience required.
Business systems knowledge.
Proficiency with Primavera P6.
Experience with MS Office Suite.
Preference for COBRA experience.
Excellent communication with all management levels.
Leadership and independent work skills as above.
Education / Experience Project Controls 2: Bachelor’s degree and at least four years of related experience, or equivalent combination.
Project Controls 3: Bachelor’s degree and at least six years of related experience, or equivalent combination.
Desired Qualifications
Intermediate experience with EVMS implementation and maintenance (EIA‑748 compliance).
Experience working in an EVMS environment.
Experience on large‑scale programs or projects.
Experience with DOE or federal/state regulators.
Location Los Alamos, NM, USA (onsite).
