Base pay range $95,000.00/yr - $125,000.00/yr
Hazen is seeking candidates for a principal structural engineer for full‑time employment in our Buffalo, NY or Sarasota Springs, NY locations. Candidates must have 5 to 15 years of relevant structural design experience.
The position will include a wide range of projects to include planning, design, permitting, and construction of structures in the ‘water space’ (i.e. drinking water, wastewater, water resources, conveyance, canals and ports). Client development, project management, technical leadership and staff mentoring opportunities will be possible for the selected individual across Hazen’s Northeast and Midwest businesses. Primary focus will be projects in Upstate NY and PA. Fieldwork and site visits from planning through construction may be required with occasional travel.

Minimum Qualifications
Prospective applicants should have 5 - 15 years of structural design experience. Prospective applicants must also have a Professional Engineering (PE) license, or ability to obtain such within 6‑months, in the State of New York.
This position will require skills in the analysis, design, and construction of environmental structures such as Industrial Buildings, Pump Stations, Process Basins, and Treatment Facilities. The selected individual will lead the structural design and construction administration responsibilities for major projects usually involving upgrades to wastewater, drinking water and reclaimed water treatment plants.
Experience in design and construction of structural steel, reinforced concrete, reinforced masonry, and aluminum is required as well as knowledge of applicable building codes, design standards including ACI, AISC, ASCE, and structural analysis and design software.
Candidates must be effective communicators and be able to successfully work in a multi‑discipline team environment.
Candidate will play a key role in significant infrastructure projects in the greater Buffalo area.
Educational Requirements
BS degree in Civil Engineering (with a Structural Concentration) or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
