Position Purpose In partnership with the executive director of annual giving and guided by the institution’s strategic initiatives, the Associate Director solicits annual fund gifts and manages fundraising activities for a select group of classes.
Key Responsibilities
Gift Solicitation and Commitments (70%):
Cultivate and solicit annual fund gifts ($2,500–$250,000), secure written commitments, and ensure prompt payment of pledges.
Volunteer Management (15%):
Direct fundraising strategy for assigned classes, serve as primary contact for alumni volunteers, and coordinate volunteer solicitations with broader donor tactics.
Donor Prospect Identification and Cultivation (10%):
Identify high‑capacity prospects, cultivate significant annual fund gifts, and refer prospects to leadership giving when appropriate.
Team Development (5%):
Contribute ideas, input, and support to advancement initiatives and share knowledge on fundraising trends and innovations.
Other Duties:
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
Successful annual fund fundraising in higher education or comparable sales/relationship management experience, with proficiency managing systems such as Ellucian Advance for donor contact reporting.
Knowledge:
Higher education economics, philanthropy and administration; ability to travel for donor meetings and events.
Skills:
Strong communication and relationship‑building skills, organizational and project management proficiency, commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, innovation, collaboration and proactive professional development.
Preferred, but Not Required
Driving a vehicle is an essential function.
