Job Summary Senior Project Manager - ETRM Domain spearheads complex Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) system implementation and optimization projects for commodities trading operations. Based in the UK (London preferred) or US (New York or Houston preferred), the role involves managing high‑stakes initiatives involving ETRM platforms such as ION Endur, Allegro, RightAngle or similar ETRM solutions. The Senior Project Manager drives end‑to‑end project delivery, ensures alignment with business objectives in energy markets (e.g., power, LNG, natural gas, crude & petroleum products), and oversees budgeting and financial governance.

Key Responsibilities

Leads the full lifecycle of ETRM projects, from scoping and planning through to deployment, ensuring seamless delivery of solutions integrated with front‑, middle‑, and back‑office systems.

Manages cross‑functional teams, including developers, analysts, traders, and stakeholders, utilizing Agile methodologies, facilitating daily scrums, sprint planning, and retrospectives to ensure timely delivery.

Oversees multiple concurrent projects, prioritizing resources, mitigating risks, and ensuring delivery within scope, timelines, and approved budgets, adhering to regulatory frameworks (e.g., REMIT in UK/EU, CFTC in US).

Develops and manages project budgets, including cost estimation, tracking, and reporting, ensuring financial accountability and alignment with organizational objectives.

Implements robust financial governance processes, monitoring expenditures, optimizing resource allocation, and providing transparent budget updates to stakeholders.

Collaborates with vendors and internal IT teams on ETRM customizations, upgrades, and migrations, supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and go‑live activities to ensure successful delivery.

Develops and presents project status reports, roadmaps, and executive summaries to senior management, highlighting delivery milestones, budget performance, risks, and ROI.

Establishes governance processes for ETRM system evolution, vendor management, and continuous improvement, applying lessons learned to enhance trading operations and delivery efficiency.

Ensures compliance with industry standards in commodities trading, risk management, and supply chain activities across UK/Europe and US markets.

Mentors junior project managers, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence in project delivery.

Drives account growth by identifying opportunities to expand client portfolios, bringing in new work, and enhancing account revenue through strategic relationship management and solution innovation.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Master’s degree or PMP/PRINCE2 certification is preferred.

12+ years of project management experience, with at least 8 years focused on ETRM/CTRM implementations in energy/commodities sectors (power, LNG, natural gas, crude & petroleum products).

Proven track record of delivering complex enterprise systems on time and within budget, including technical integrations and stakeholder alignment in fast‑paced trading environments.

Strong knowledge of ETRM platforms (e.g., Endur, Allegro, RightAngle) and related technologies (e.g., SQL, APIs for trading/risk modules).

Preferred Skills and Experience

Brings experience in UK/Europe (Power/LNG markets) and/or US (natural gas/oil) energy trading ecosystems.

Shows proficiency in risk management tools, data analytics, regulatory reporting, and financial forecasting for project budgeting.

Displays excellent communication skills for engaging senior stakeholders, resolving conflicts, and presenting budget and delivery updates.

Demonstrates familiarity with hybrid/Agile‑Waterfall methodologies and tools like Jira, MS Project, or Confluence.

Proven ability to grow accounts, enhance revenue streams, and secure new business opportunities through client relationship management and strategic solution proposals.
