Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled
Personal Injury Litigation Attorney
to handle personal injury cases from our D.C. office. We are looking for one candidate who is barred in MD and one candidate who is barred in VA. This role involves managing a caseload of litigation matters, providing top-tier legal representation to clients, and preparing cases for trial. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in personal injury law with proven litigation experience in D.C. The position will be in-office based in our DC office, 4 days in-office, 1 day remote.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management: Handle a caseload of personal injury litigation matters, including motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, medical malpractice, and wrongful death cases
Litigation: Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery responses. Conduct depositions, represent clients in court hearings, and prepare cases for trial.
Trial Preparation: Collaborate with the trial team to develop case strategies and prepare for trial, including witness preparation and evidence presentation
Legal Research and Writing: Conduct legal research and draft briefs, motions, and memoranda
Client Relations: Maintain regular communication with clients to provide case updates, set expectations, and guide them through the litigation process
Settlement Negotiations: Engage in settlement negotiations with opposing counsel, ensuring that outcomes align with clients’ best interests
Jurisdictional Compliance: Ensure all filings, pleadings, and court submissions comply with the procedural rules of DC courts
Qualifications and Skills
Licenses: Must be licensed to practice law in either MD or VA (or both)
Experience: 3-5 years of personal injury litigation experience
Litigation Expertise: Strong knowledge of personal injury law, with demonstrated experience in all phases of litigation, including trials
Client Focus: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong client relationships
Organizational Skills: Highly organized and able to manage multiple cases in a fast-paced legal environment
Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to negotiate favorable settlements
Technical Skills: Proficiency with case management software and litigation support tools
Bilingual: Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not required
