Overview

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position:

Stands regular scheduled watches in the central control monitor room of the engine room located on a diesel powered, Seagoing Hopper Dredge. May be selected at any grade level with non-competitive promotion potential to target grade. Responsibilities

Operate all engine room machinery on a diesel-powered seagoing hopper dredge. Observe and operate pressure and temperature gauges. Inspect all operating machinery to insure proper functioning. Maintain central control of the engine room. Start, stop and adjust engine room equipment. Maintain log of operations. Indicate abnormal alarms in the engine room. Requirements

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. A one year trial/probationary period may be required. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. Possess a U S Coast Guard license as 3rd Assistant Engineer for motor vessels with no horsepower limitation, or a higher license. Shift work is required. Must be physically able to do relatively heavy lifting (up to 40 lbs.) This position meets the criteria for random drug and alcohol testing under the Department of Army Drug-Free Workplace Program as supplemented by USACE ER 690-1-1218. This position requires pre-employment and annual physical medical examination.
