What You Can Expect Senior Security Engineer (Cryptography) at Zoom is responsible for designing and guiding encryption primitives implementation for Zoom video and meeting applications and services. The ideal candidate should possess a combination of strong technical knowledge across multiple product security domains, a solid Cryptography background and preferably has experience in implementing the encryption primitives. The candidate will work with engineering teams across the company to design, develop, and validate security solutions.

The candidate will be an advocate and subject matter expert in Crypto Design Implementation and validation to engineering teams across the company. This is a unique, exciting opportunity to work on and learn about the latest and greatest technologies in the cloud, security, and Cryptography.

About the Team The Security Architecture team is dedicated to ensuring Zoom releases and deploys secure products. We work with diverse engineering teams across the organization to meet security goals and maintain compliance with established SLAs.

Responsibilities

Provide guidance and subject matter expertise in crypto design, implementation, and validation to engineering teams across the company

Apply risk-based approach to make the right security decisions and priorities

Evaluate and identify gaps in existing solutions and recommend changes or enhancements

Build PoC or libraries that enable Zoom developers to easily consume crypto services and work with them for integration

Provide hands‑on security training and secure coding best practices to developers for crypto implementation

Work with peers and leaders around the company to set, and then execute the vision for cryptography

What We’re Looking For

Strong cryptography experience across multiple domains such as asymmetric and symmetric key encryption algorithms, key management, secure protocols, and standards such as NIST guidelines for crypto and FIPs etc.

5+ years designing and implementing modern encryption technologies in various technology stacks

SME knowledge of modern encryption and hashing algorithms and their usage, purposes, and weaknesses in varied scenarios

Experience in crafting safe crypto implementations is a must

Understanding of Software Security Architecture and Design, SDLC and the ability to clearly articulate best practices for application security

Strong development experience in one or more of the programming languages and platforms such as Java, JavaScript, Python, C/C++, Objective C, iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, is required.

Master’s or PhD (Preferred) in cryptography, computer science, mathematics, or related field

Effective communication is essential.

Salary Range or On Target Earnings:

Minimum: $146,700.00

Maximum: $339,300.00

In addition to the base salary and/or OTE listed Zoom has a Total Direct Compensation philosophy that takes into consideration; base salary, bonus and equity value.

Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience.
