Hyperscale Data Center Fire Engineer - Senior Project Manager Location: Remote - US What you’ll do

Review and assist technical development of fire alarm and suppression systems for hyperscale data centers, including campus planning, general layout/arrangements, VESDA/ASSD calculations and code review, hydraulic analyses, pipe sizing, etc. Coordinate with external design consultants and provide direction or escalation. Peer review design consultants’ results including drawing sets, specifications, calculations, models, etc., and provide comments and resolutions. Participate in all page turns as responsible/accountable for FA/FP sets. Represent the owner (through external consultants) as SME. Assist partner teams in addressing fire code blockers on permits and filings. Coordinate Value Engineering efforts. Analyze redundancies, failure modes, and Single Points Of Failure while collaborating with RAM modelers to verify conformance. Perform rapid conceptual sketches using CAD or BIM for visualization and spatial validations for internal purposes only. Help define BMS sequences of operations related to fire events. Assist and occasionally lead projects and solutioning, fleet-wide improvements and other needs arising from existing, operational data center campuses. Evaluate post-mortem reports, 8D/root cause analyses and presentations; provide comments and recommendations. Generate solution/upgrade/improvement options with fleet-wide impact to improve reliability and availability of critical operational infrastructure. Assist data analytics of operational trends to evaluate equipment health, remaining useful life, and predictive failure models. Provide code interpretations and input as needs arise. Collaborate with construction, design and change management to compile, prioritize/triage and process construction-originated engineering issues for standard design/product improvements. Support standard design improvement loops/processes between products, design, construction, and operations. Visit construction sites or operational sites if needed. Coordinate, clarify, and track technical issues with client partner teams and third-party contractors. Ensure design QA/QC is performed and report/resolve issues and gaps to downstream partners. Represent client’s Execution Engineering team in Product Life Cycle discussions as a SME. What you’ll need

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in an engineering subject area. Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design of fire protection systems for commercial buildings; data center construction experience is helpful. Knowledge of building, mechanical and fire protection codes and standards. Knowledge of Fire Alarm / Suppression systems such as Early Warning/Detection Systems, Pre-action, and Wet Pipe Systems is required. Familiarity with Google Workspace and related products. Familiarity with critical infrastructure is preferred. Experience working with cross-disciplinary teams, including structural, civil, IT/Telecom, security, mechanical, electrical, and architectural. The minimum salary for this position is $160,000 annually and the maximum salary for this position is $195,000 annually. Compensation offered will depend on skills, qualifications, and experience.
