Role Purpose Thermal Equipment Design provides comprehensive design and engineering for Corning’s specialized processes. Thermal equipment creates the process environment for material transformation and phase change. In this position you will provide the leadership to plan, scope, coordinate and control complex projects related to design for melting, forming, heat treating, batching, and related process services. You will act as the lead on one or more projects and provide technical leadership on thermal equipment related projects.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership on one or more projects; primary technical leadership on thermal equipment projects
Propose, scope, and implement projects requiring engineering analysis
Apply sound engineering principles in the design of thermally functioning process equipment
Use engineering principles—mechanical design, heat transfer, fluid mechanics—and numerical and physical modeling
Collaborate with scientists and process experts as part of the engineering process
Collaborate with manufacturing operations to further define and receive new and modified process equipment
Recommend and implement improvements to mechanical equipment
Oversee equipment installation and on‑site commissioning as required
Coordinate with project managers and other team members to meet project goals
Effectively communicate plans, progress, and problems to all concerned parties
Develop and update engineering documentation
Be available for significant travel, primarily domestic; international travel may be required
Required Education
BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering (Chemical may be considered)
Minimum 5 years of project, engineering, and design experience
Experience working in manufacturing or industrial environments
Strong technical fundamentals with thermal equipment
Desired Experiences
Knowledge of modeling for flow, thermal, and structural analysis
Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fluent, ANSYS, COMSOL, GOMA, etc.

Salary range: $94,161.00 – $129,472.00 (full‑time). Starting pay depends on location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
