Important Schedule Details:
Training Period: On-site for up to 2 weeks, Monday – Thursday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, to complete system and project training.
Temporary Overnight Shift (Remote): After training, work from home on an overnight shift (2:00 AM – 10:00 AM) to support the POS rollout project.
Return to Normal Schedule: Following project completion (estimated February 2026), revert to 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM on-site (Mon – Thurs).
Parking: Free parking provided at the Mechanicsville facility.
Project Overview:
Supporting a statewide POS Software rollout across 400 stores (1,000+ registers) in Virginia.
Position Summary:
Seeking a seasoned System Administrator with a strong technical background and experience supporting large‑scale retail or POS environments. This role involves maintaining the health, stability, and performance of retail systems while collaborating with IT infrastructure, store operations, and vendor teams. You'll implement system upgrades, manage hardware/software configurations, support integrations, and perform root cause analysis to ensure uninterrupted retail operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Systems Administration, Monitoring & Maintenance (50%):
Perform daily system checks, backups, OS updates, and configuration management.
Install/configure new hardware and software; maintain detailed documentation.
Manage user accounts, access permissions, and security compliance.
Troubleshoot system issues and respond to technical queries.
Utilize PowerShell scripting to automate admin tasks and enhance efficiency.
Retail Operations Support (20%):
Provide hands‑on support for POS systems, licensee workstations, and retail servers.
Assist users with software/communication issues and ensure resolution documentation.
Coordinate with third‑party vendors for hardware replacements.
Maintain strong customer service through proactive communication and follow‑up.
Configure operating system and POS software settings for retail devices.
Application Support (30%):
Administer and support GK OmniPOS and related retail software.
Manage the wireless infrastructure and Active Directory Domain (Windows Server 2019).
Collaborate with vendors for new application builds and updates.
Identify and mitigate potential risks within the retail environment.
Ideal Candidate:
Strong hands‑on experience with Windows Server administration, POS environments, and PowerShell scripting.
Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently during off‑hours while coordinating with cross‑functional teams.
