We invite applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre beginning August 2026. The role includes teaching acting to undergraduate students, developing new works, and contributing to the department’s research and creative agenda.
Location: West Hartford, CT. Annual salary: $68,000–$70,000. Employment type: full‑time, tenure‑track.
Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate courses in musical theatre performance.
Develop and stage new works and regionally produced pieces.
Engage in scholarly and creative research, including writing, productions, and community outreach.
Participate in service activities, department meetings, and professional service.
Qualifications
Master of Fine Arts (MFA) or other terminal degree in Musical Theatre/Performance at time of appointment, or a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Musical Theatre/Performance with significant professional performing and directing credits.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching acting to musical theatre students.
Experience or strong interest in developing new works in theatre.
Experience as a director and/or music director in musical theatre is preferred.
