An Informatics Data Analyst works independently to document external data acquisition policies and procedures and interfaces with other business units to define and document data needs and ad‑hoc analysis requirements; identifies business practice workflow and process issues, provides leadership and guidance to define system and process requirements that optimize system performance and technology utilization by system users, and designs information systems and technologies that ensure access and transparency.

The Informatics Data Analyst develops, implements, organizes, and maintains information and reports to document operational and financial performance; collaborates with the quality team, administrators, etc., to design ad‑hoc and routine reports; monitors quality programs and works to improve them; compiles data from multiple sources and imports it into the relevant database; selects appropriate tools and methods to maintain existing programs ensuring appropriate data transfer and well‑documented reports to increase efficiency; assists with analysis of external data definitions, documentation and mapping processes; performs a quality assurance function for the data integration processes and repository metrics; collaborates with other staff to document data needs and metric definitions; validates data load processes and the quality of loaded data; maintains, stores, maps and analyzes data in compliance with policies and procedures; coordinates with LAN and IT Security teams to use PGP encryption software and File Transfer Protocols; and uses software such as SAS, Access, and Excel to provide data mapping for integration using Business Objects and SQL.

The Informatics Data Analyst possesses knowledge and experience in basic statistical concepts; identifies trends, business opportunities, and relevant issues; uses common demographics and databases; defines fields and how data is entered and processed; performs data mining/intelligence; uses statistically‑valid analysis and measurement methodologies; packages data with infographics and other display techniques; performs ad‑hoc analysis/performance evaluation; understands common demographic databases; writes SQL code and provides report services; designs data warehouses; and designs web‑based applications.

PC skills (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAS, Access, and Excel); works independently and leads process documentation and interfaces with team members; is detail‑oriented; has excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; handles multiple tasks; and has strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.

Skills preferred:

3+ years of experience writing, troubleshooting, and optimizing complex Transact‑SQL and PL/SQL code.

3+ years of experience investigating and resolving data anomalies through root cause analysis using analytical tools such as Excel, Tableau, and other ETL processors.

3+ years constructing complex data models for business intelligence solutions and developing dashboards and reports with Tableau and Business Objects.

3+ years implementing data transformations, cleansing, and normalization best practices, and using abstraction and inheritance programming concepts to ensure high‑quality data solutions.

Over 2 years of experience eliciting and documenting user requirements for large, highly complex systems or enhancements, translating technical tasks for a non‑technical audience.
