Scrum Master

to work in our Fairfax, VA office.

ECS is responsible for designing, building, deploying, operating, and maintaining a complete ‘Data Services’ solution which includes the collection, normalization, visualization, and sharing of cyber data from more than 100 Federal agencies. The CDM Data Services product is an integrated suite of multiple Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) products, software configuration packages, and custom code which work together as an integrated solution tailored to meet Department of Homeland Security (DHS) requirements.

The program operates within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). An aptitude and enthusiasm for continuous learning, improvement, and cyber security is a must.

Role & Responsibilities

Facilitate Agile Events: Organize and facilitate key Agile events, including Daily Stand-ups, Iteration Planning, Iteration Reviews, and Retrospectives.

Support the Team: Assist the team in meeting their delivery goals by coaching them in self‑organization and self‑management.

Remove Impediments: Identify and remove impediments that hinder the team’s progress.

Promote SAFe Practices: Educate the team on SAFe principles and practices, including Scrum, Kanban, and Extreme Programming (XP).

Coordinate with ART (Agile Release Train): Work closely with other Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and the Release Train Engineer (RTE) to ensure alignment and coordination across the ART.

Facilitates preparation and readiness for ART events. Assist the team in preparation for ART activities, including backlog refinement and supporting upcoming Planning Intervals.

Coordinate with other teams: Support the team’s efforts to continuously improve communications and relationships with other teams. Represent the team in the Scrum of Scrums (SoS), helping the team remain aware of opportunities to engage and improve program effectiveness.

Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging the team to identify and implement process enhancements.

Stakeholder Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with stakeholders, providing updates on team progress, risks, and dependencies.

Required Skills

US citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust Suitability.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, or equivalent technical project experience.

Certified SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), or equivalent experience.

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Scrum Master or in a related Agile role (Product Owner, Release Train Engineer, etc.).

Strong understanding of Scrum and Kanban principles, SAFe principles, and Lean‑Agile practices.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively on cross‑functional teams.

Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Proven expertise in deliverable tracking in an Agile environment.

Experience with Agile tools (for example JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps, etc.).

Desired Skills

Solid understanding of Amazon Web Services offerings.

Experience with DHS Programs and the DHS Systems Engineering Lifecycle.

Experience with Cyber Security Programs/Customers.

SAFe Agile Experience and/or Certification.

ITIL Practitioner Certification and ITIL Foundations Certification.

Experience supporting a Government Customer.
