Justice Initiatives Program Manager – Opioid Intervention Courts
Under the direction of the Hon. Edwina G. Richardson, Deputy Chief Administrative Judge for Justice Initiatives, the New York State Unified Court System’s Office for Justice Initiatives is charged with supporting New York’s network of problem‑solving courts, including drug and opioid courts, veterans’ treatment courts, mental health courts, human trafficking intervention courts, family treatment courts, domestic violence courts, and integrated domestic violence courts.
The individual hired for this position will join our problem‑solving court team to work on a variety of statewide initiatives. This is a full‑time, permanent position, with a particular emphasis in the first 2–3 years on providing technical assistance to opioid intervention court efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical assistance, training, and evaluation to courts across New York engaged in opioid intervention work, including in‑person and virtual site visits, maintaining project logs and records, creating written reports summarizing implementation strategies and sustainability plans, and data collection/analysis
Work with stakeholder teams, including pretrial services, prosecution, defense, judicial partners, recovery community organizations, and behavioral health agencies
Provide support to judges and court staff to increase the effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of problem‑solving court programs and services
Facilitate development, expansion, and strengthening of stakeholder teams through virtual and in‑person meetings
Analyse statewide policies and recommend improvements based on best practices and research
Plan and host training programs
Present at local and national conferences
The Office for Justice Initiatives’ Problem‑Solving Justice Division is based in Manhattan at the Office of Court Administration (25 Beaver Street, New York, NY 10004). Qualified candidates not located in the NYC‑area will be considered for placement in a Unified Court System field/district office. Regardless of the chosen candidate’s office location, this is an in‑person (not remote) position, and travel will be required.
Qualifications • One year in the Management Analyst title; or
• A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of relevant experience; or
• An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Candidates with national or state treatment court policy experience, excellent written and verbal communication skills, superior interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills, and familiarity with court administration are encouraged to apply.
Compensation Base Salary: $110,853 + $4,920 Location Pay (NYC, Long Island & Westchester County)
Location: Any Statewide Regional Office (NYC, Albany, Long Island, Westchester, Buffalo, Rochester, Binghamton, Syracuse)
