Payroll Migration Specialist
role at
Miter .
Miter is on a mission to help construction contractors build with confidence by rebuilding core HR, finance, and operations systems using AI and embedded payments. Since launching in 2022, we’ve empowered thousands of customers like Marathon Electrical and Truebeck Construction with tools that streamline payroll, finance, and operations across the construction and field services industry.
Base pay range $100,000.00/yr - $130,000.00/yr
Hybrid vs Remote Approach We believe the magic of Miter comes from working side by side. For roles listed as hybrid, the expectation is three to four days a week in the office to connect and build stronger relationships. If you live within a reasonable commute to our New York City or San Francisco offices, we ask that you work in our hybrid approach. Otherwise, for roles listed as remote or in cities where we don’t have an office, there’s no requirement to work in our hybrid approach. We do travel a few times a year for onboarding, company‑wide, and team‑specific offsites.
About the Team & How We Work As a Payroll Migration Specialist on Miter’s Launch team, you’ll play a critical role in helping customers get payroll right from day one. You’ll guide customers through the onboarding process, transferring, transforming, and validating year‑to‑date payroll and tax data to ensure go‑live success. We work closely with customers, partners, and internal Implementation Managers. Accuracy matters here; mistakes can have downstream tax and compliance impacts.
What You’ll Do
Lead YTD data transfers during customer onboarding, working directly with customers to collect and validate payroll, tax, and employee data.
Transform data from PDFs, spreadsheets, and other systems into Miter’s required formats.
Collaborate with Launch Managers to ensure timely and error‑free go‑lives.
Manage 20+ YTD implementations at once while balancing deadlines.
Conduct detailed mapping discussions with customers to confirm data alignment.
Identify missing or incorrect data and proactively communicate corrections.
Partner with Launch and Biz Operations teams to recommend process improvements and share best practices.
What You’ll Need
2+ years in payroll operations, tax reporting, or a related financial field with a solid understanding of taxes, compliance, and wage laws.
Strong proficiency in Excel and data mapping, including transforming PDFs and spreadsheets into standard templates.
Experience working with sensitive employee data and maintaining strict confidentiality.
Excellent project management skills to handle 20+ concurrent go‑lives.
Clear and effective communication with customers and cross‑functional teams.
Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities around payroll and tax data.
Highly process‑oriented, detail‑driven, and comfortable navigating ambiguity.
