The Protection, Controls & Automation (PCA) group of Digital Power is the engineering entity of Schneider Electric specialized in developing solutions for control and protection for electrical substations, distribution networks, microgrids, smart grids and renewable generation. Inside this group, the Datacenter and Substation Automation team is looking for an Application Engineer with a very good understanding of protection and control automation systems, good competencies in different communication protocols like IEC61850, Modbus, and a good understanding of protection systems within the power system to configure and test the protection relays. The candidate we are looking for has experience in power systems monitoring and control, mostly for low voltage. Medium voltage is also appreciated. The candidate needs to have hands‑on experience in electrical PLC and/or software‑based control systems, along with a good background in communication protocols, operating systems, network, and cybersecurity principles.

Application Engineer
who thrives on solving complex challenges and driving technical excellence in power systems and protection schemes.
What You’ll Do
Work on Complex Projects:
Design, configure, test, and execute advanced PCA solutions tailored to customer needs.
Collaborate Across Teams:
Work closely with Sales, Project Managers, and cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless project execution.
Be a Safety Champion:
Promote Schneider Electric’s Safety‑First culture in every aspect of your work.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems.
3+ years of experience in Protection, Control, and Automation projects.
Experience in implementing protection / control projects for Oil & Gas, datacenter, Utility segments.
Power systems and protection schemes.
Protection relays and relay‑based ATO schemes.
Testing protocols for feeder, transformer, bus differential, arc flash, and motor protection.
Experience in power monitoring & control equipment with solutions preferably from Schneider, Alstom, SEL, GE, ABB, and Siemens.
Proficiency in communication protocols:
Modbus, DNP, IEC61850
would be ideal.
Ability to work in a fast pace & demanding environment under quality and budget constraints.
Proficient English language skills both written and spoken.
Excellent communication skills.
Willingness to travel up to 40% domestically.
