Avionics Liaison Engineer II - New Glenn
New Glenn, Merritt Island, FL – Full‑time
Blue Origin is developing reusable space vehicles and systems. This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn. As a member of a small, passionate team, you will represent the Electrical Harness Design team on our Rocket Manufacturing and Integration floor, handling all aspects of engineering, design, fabrication, installation, and test for avionics harnesses.
Shift : Second Shift
Responsibilities
Answer design‑related questions from the Rocket Manufacturing and Integration Floor.
Support selection of avionics components and hardware such as connectors, backshells, cable and wire, fasteners, and bonding materials.
Create and update non‑conformances (NC) and dispositions in the internal system.
Redline and release updated harness drawings, including 2D electrical harness, 3D installation, and hardware installation drawings, and publish them in Windchill.
Identify improvement opportunities to increase rate, productivity, and efficiency.
Support automation initiatives during avionics installation.
Provide technical guidance for avionics installation, assembly, and testing of cables, harnesses, LRUs and hardware.
Report on activity schedule and technical status.
Identify opportunities for technical improvements.
Qualifications
B.S. degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
2+ years designing avionics/electrical harnesses for aerospace.
3+ years supporting manufacturing/installation of wire harnesses or avionics LRUs.
Knowledge of harness fabrication and installation processes.
Experience with Creo, Windchill, and Routed System Designer (RSD).
Understanding and application of wire derating analysis.
Familiar with harness standards: IPC/WHMA‑A‑620A, NASA‑STD‑8739.4.
Strong electrical/mechanical design and integration skills using 3‑D CAD software.
Preferred Qualifications
IPC/WHMA‑A‑620A Certification.
Experience with Pro/E Piping.
Experience with high‑end CAD routing software such as Unigraphics NX Electrical and Mechanical Routing.
Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft electrical/mechanical systems.
Knowledge of Six Sigma principles.
Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification.
