PRN, Per Diem
Shift:
20 hours (2x10 hr shifts) monthly; 1 weekend per month / 12 weekends per year; option to add shifts during week as needed
The Colorado Blood Cancer Institute (CBCI) Medical Group is a private practice that specializes in the care of patients with hematologic malignancies. Affiliated with Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center and part of the Sarah Cannon Research Network, CBCI offers a full spectrum of treatment from diagnosis to therapy, including conventional therapy, autologous and allogenic transplant, and Immune Effector Cell Therapy. With more than 5,000 transplants performed, CBCI is the largest and most experienced blood and marrow transplant program in Colorado and a top program nationwide. CBCI is accredited by the Foundation for Accreditation of Cellular Therapies (FACT), the gold standard for quality patient care in cellular therapies.
The Position We are seeking a licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant who can work in the state of Colorado. Ideally the candidate will have experience in the bone marrow transplant (BMT) setting, but we welcome high‑potential candidates willing to receive training. A role in a high‑volume, high‑acuity environment is required.
Overview The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) delivers outpatient clinic services for CBCI patients and coordinates care for CBCI patients hospitalized at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Hospital. In the outpatient setting, the APP sees patients independently within the clinic team of one physician and 1–2 APPs, managing a large patient panel. In the inpatient setting, the APP takes primary responsibility for assigned patients, coordinating with consultants and the multidisciplinary team, and participates in multidisciplinary rounds. The APP documents and implements the plan of care under the supervision of the CBCI hospital physician.
Essential Functions Outpatient Clinical Care
Provides expert‑level care to patients across all CBCI treatment areas.
Prepares and oversees individualized plans of care, participating in multidisciplinary team meetings and coordinating care with supporting functions (nursing, pharmacy, dietetics, psychology, social work) and other clinical staff.
Functions primarily independently of supervising physicians; physicians are present in the clinic for questions and support.
Serves as primary provider coordinating scheduled and unscheduled admissions and discharges to the hospital service.
Provides outpatient care to patients on research studies as assigned, maintaining up‑to‑date awareness of all applicable studies and completing required training.
Completes all documentation in a timely manner within EMR, including orders, admissions paperwork, and other clinical tasks.
Inpatient Clinical Care
Rotates between various inpatient units with focus on CBCI patient/provider continuity.
Provides expert‑level care to assigned patients on the CBCI service.
Prepares and oversees the plan of care daily, participating in multidisciplinary rounds and coordinating patient care with nursing, pharmacy, dietetics, psychology, social work, and consulting specialists.
Completes CBCI hospital admissions and discharges with input from the CBCI clinic or hospital physician.
Presents patients to and rounds with supervising physician, modifying the plan of care as needed.
Provides ICU critical care services as assigned in coordination with the CBCI hospital physician and critical care team.
Provides inpatient care to patients on research studies as assigned, maintaining awareness of all applicable studies and completing required training.
Places orders and completes all documentation (admission history and physicals, daily notes, interim hospital summaries, discharge summaries, and procedures) within the EMR in a timely manner.
Procedures
Performs procedures in both inpatient and outpatient settings as assigned, including but not limited to bone marrow biopsy with and without sedation, skin biopsy, and procedural clearance for patients receiving photopheresis.
